MDM in SCCM 2012 R2 - Intune Subscription and Connector

Back to ConfigMgr main menu

Back to MDM Menu

The Windows Intune subscription lets you specify your configuration settings for the Windows Intune service. This includes specifying which users can enroll their devices and defining which mobile device platforms to manage.

Note that you should carry out this configuration using a remote ConfigMgr console installed on a desktop OS. Server OS security can cause issues while connecting to Windows Intune during the process.

Navigate to Administration > Overview > Hierarchy. Right click "Windows Intune Subscriptions" and choose to create one.

You are presented with a dialog box explaining the prerequisites required to manage the various platforms. We will not choose to manage any platforms while creating the subscription but will configure this later.

Select "Sign In" to Windows Intune .

Confirm that you want to set ConfigMgr as the MDM Management Authority. You will not be able to change this afterwards (ie you will no longer be able to manage mobile devices through Intune alone with this particular Intune account).

Enter your Intune credentials.

Choose the ConfigMgr collection that we configured earlier (this would be Intune Users). See that you can enter a Company Name and customise the portal with a colour choice.

Do not choose any platforms yet.

Enter customised details here.

Choose a company logo.

Close the wizard.

The subscription has been created.

The Windows Intune Connector is a Site System Role which actually creates the connection to Windows Intune.

Right click "Servers and Site System Roles" and choose "Add Site System Role"

Verify the server details.

Select "Windows Intune Connector"

Close the wizard.

The Windows Intune connector has been added.
