1E Nomad - Demo software distribution with Nomad Branch

Back to ConfigMgr main menu

Back to 1E Nomad menu

We previously installed the Nomad Branch client, the Admin Console GUI Extensions and the Nomad Branch GUI (Download Monitor). In this section we will carry out a demo software distribution to see how these components are used.

This is our test application.

It has now been enabled for Nomad.

Update the Distribution Points for the application.

Test collection.

Deploy the app to the test collection.

Open the Download Monitor (in this case I have opened it locally on the test computer - SCCMTest4).

See the mode - the content is being downloaded via "HTTP from DP".

See the NomadBranch.log file on SCCMTest4. An election is now being held on this subnet and this computer has become the Master for content for this application.

Content has been downloaded to the Nomad cache.

Now add SCCMTest3 to the test collection.

Connect to SCCMTest3. See that the content is now being downloaded from the Master SCCMTest4. The mode is "SMB from Peer".

  1. Hi Gerry,
We just upgraded our SCCM server to 2012 and integrated Nomad with it. Nomad works fine with Packages but it does not work with Applications. After deploying an Application to download with Nomad, it just stays in downloading state on the client. Packages, Software Packages are downloaded fine with Nomad.

There is no "Enable Nomad" tab in Applications and also it uses Content Lib and does not give an option to "copy the content in this package to a package share on distribution points". Is there something different to be done with Applications? Please guide me.

NomadBranch.log says it cannot find the DP but the same client can connect to the DP when a package is deployed. LsZ shares are also in the Nomad registry. The only weird part I noticed is a package share is not created for Applications when I distribute it on the DP. distmgr.log shows a package was created with package ID and distributed on DP but I don't see the package in the share on DP.
