Step 3. Create Build & Capture task sequence and boot media

Back to ConfigMgr main menu

Back to MDT Menu

OK, so we have installed MDT 2013 and created a deployment share. We have also added the Windows 7 installation files to the share. Now we will create the build and capture task sequence and boot media.

Right click on Task Sequences and choose to create one.

Enter some details.

Choose the "Standard Client Task Sequence".

Choose your OS image (Windows 7 in my case).

No need to specify a product key - you can do this at deployment time (you don't have to at all if you are using KMS).

Enter some OS settings. You cannot leave these blank.

Enter local administrator password (if you wish to).

Review the summary and click Next.

Click Finish to close the wizard.

Task sequence has been created.

Task sequence steps.

Task sequence properties.

Now lets create our boot media.

Right click the deployment share and choose to update it.

Choose the default.

Review the summary and click next to create the boot media.

Boot media is being created.

Click Finish to close the wizard.

Boot media has been created in DeploymentShare\Boot folder - LiteTouchPE_x86.iso.

Step 3 is now completed. In step 4 we will use this ISO to commence our build and capture task sequence.

  1. Hello Gerry,

I would like to add network drivers to the Deployment Share/LiteTouchPE.iso.
I think I have to configure the Inject Drivers part but in which section (PreInstall, Install, Postinstall)?
I already checked how to import drivers and the possibilities of the selection profiles and I think I can use your guide for the wmi query, is this correct?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Lukas

    1. What are you trying to do? Why do you need drivers in this boot image? You should really be using this on a VM to run a Build & Capture task sequence.
